Well, this is for the word Flying for Illustration Friday this week. It's liner pens...well just as i get finished with the outline my pen threw-up all over. So, instead of starting over i just scanned it in, erased the big smudges and decided to do a digital coloring just to get it finished and up. i kinda like how it turned out. i guess Yeah for mistakes.

Today i had several times i got left in a small room waiting for other people to...well i have no idea what they where doing but i sure it was fun and i was left standing in a small closet. At least i had scraps of paper and pencil/pen but standing drawing on a clip board isn't as easy as one might think.

Ok, truth be know only the initial sketch was from coffee. i inked (black ink/Nib pen) and inked (ink pencil/water/brush) off and on since last night. And the busy summer goes on... This is the busy time of year at work and the kids aren't in school so i've little to no time to draw. Most of the time i don't notice but, as the days grind on i miss my coffee/sketch time just a bit more.

This week for Illustration Friday the word is Unfold. It's going to be a busy week so i'm happy i got this done. i've been working with nib pens and really enjoying it but now i want an inkwell to make dipping easier (and less spills). The intent is to try coloring this but in case i don't end up with the time i'm gonna get it up so i feel productive =). Arboretum

Last weekend the family and i went over to the Arboretum. They have a really cool pond that the kids can walk around in that's full of tadpoles...



And a new exhibit called Animal Houses. We spent hours running around.

Adapt : IF ... Digital Practice

Needing a lot more skill in coloring i decided to sketch something to color...it turned in to a way bigger thing then it was sposta. The sketch was at coffee, the inking was at lunch (and beyond), and i've just finished trying to mess around with it in Photoshop.



Next i'm going to print out a few copies on various papers and try markers on one and watercolors on another. (and for you Illustration Friday people, i'm the one Adapting to new media...i know it's a stretch ). Let me know what you think of this one.

Cottonwood Blizzard

Whelp, we went for a walk today and the air was thick with cottonwood tree seeds. The street in these pictures had spots with drifts 4-6 inches deep.



i still think i have some lodged in my nose.


It really did look like it was snowing.
