So it's been more then a year since i posted last... life gets away. i'm gonna try to start slow back in here. i've been sketching when i can but as always not enough for my tastes. For some reason when i saw the word for this weeks Illustration Friday all i could think of was this Metallica song, and i'm not even a fan of them. So seeing how it stuck i just cheeped out and did this quick sketch tonight. i hope the last year teated you well, g.

i have a plethora or excuses for why i haven’t posted in a long while. 1^st of all i found out my scanner will not scan with an ink cartridge empty (what printing and scanning have to do with each other eludes me, but i’m sure it has nothing to do with money;) Next i'm in the middle of buying a new house, which im happy to say, gives me a dedicated space to draw. i get to have a studio space all my own! i have also inherited a new computer but have not, as yet, ported over all of what it takes to easily scan and size my sketches. And i have even more reasons that all still just equate to... i'm lazy and haven’t gott’n around to organizing my life in such a way that it’s still easy to post. i will, as much as my promise means, have at least one week coming up soon that i will post a picture a day. Thanks to all of my subscribers and to my friends that have been bugging me to start posting again. Sorry for the lag time and i’ll get back on line very soon. Enjoy that rest of your week, g

So, i've started a new job that has taken even more of what little free time i have. Sadly that's my sketch time. i'm starting to find a new schedule to allow some draw time but it's still not what it was. i will press hard for my own sanity to find the time to put pencil to paper. i still have two pieces to do for friends at the coffee shop i sit at.

i've been very distracted lately and what little time i've had has been fairly unfocused. i'm working at learning the "how to's" of sequential art and i've sadly found it's way beyond my present skill level. Just last week i picked up a short little story i wrote for practice and it's helping but i've a long way to go. Not wanting to let this page die out during my slump i'm posting a quick sketch i did at coffee today and also a rough digital coloring i did tonight just for fun.

Well, this is for the word Flying for Illustration Friday this week. It's liner pens...well just as i get finished with the outline my pen threw-up all over. So, instead of starting over i just scanned it in, erased the big smudges and decided to do a digital coloring just to get it finished and up. i kinda like how it turned out. i guess Yeah for mistakes.

This week for Illustration Friday the word is Unfold. It's going to be a busy week so i'm happy i got this done. i've been working with nib pens and really enjoying it but now i want an inkwell to make dipping easier (and less spills). The intent is to try coloring this but in case i don't end up with the time i'm gonna get it up so i feel productive =). Last weekend the family and i went over to the Arboretum. They have a really cool pond that the kids can walk around in that's full of tadpoles...

And a new exhibit called Animal Houses. We spent hours running around.

Adapt : IF ... Digital Practice

Needing a lot more skill in coloring i decided to sketch something to color...it turned in to a way bigger thing then it was sposta. The sketch was at coffee, the inking was at lunch (and beyond), and i've just finished trying to mess around with it in Photoshop.

Next i'm going to print out a few copies on various papers and try markers on one and watercolors on another. (and for you Illustration Friday people, i'm the one Adapting to new media...i know it's a stretch ). Let me know what you think of this one.

Whelp, we went for a walk today and the air was thick with cottonwood tree seeds. The street in these pictures had spots with drifts 4-6 inches deep.

i still think i have some lodged in my nose.

It really did look like it was snowing.

Ok, i lost my sketchpad...ooh the horror. i spent most of my time in an ennui ( yeah! i never get to use that word.) endlessly searching under all the clutter we call "holiday decorating".
